This is a casual social ride where we will meet at Forest Holidays in Beddgelert, we want to see all bikes of all different shapes, sizes and set ups. So however you do it come along and share your ideas. 

We welcome anyone who already embarks on bikepacking expeditions of their own or anyone with an interest in learning more. You can join us for the social ride on Saturday to see what its all about or stick around for the evening too to learn about  methods of wildcamping that go hand in hand with bike exploration. 

I know it's November but a few of us will camp out around the campfire so feel free to join us!

The Plan:

We're keeping things casual this weekend, Bikepacking can involve a lot of faff and I hope that everyone feels comfortable to faff for aslong as it takes. This is a faffing safe zone to practice and learn.

09:30 - 10:30 - Meet up & Faff 

The ride starts at 10:30. Come along earlier to load your bike up and chat about different set ups, where we pack stuff and what we take for a cycling overnighter. Whether you're camping with us or not you might be interested to see the different styles of bikes and how we pack them.

10:30 - 14:00 - The ride 

It's not a difficult one, we head out for 3 hours on a short loop of Beddgelert forest up to Llyn Llywelyn where we stop for a spot on lunch. We invite you to bring your stoves for a brew or hot flask and a spot of luncheon for a winter feast at the lake. Whether you're staying over or not come along for the ride and chat to us about where we've been on our bike travels and what we learnt on the way.

14:00 - 17:00 - Wild Camping 

Post ride we roll into the woods back near the campsite and parking where there is a convenient bushcraft area and fire pit. We will talk all things wild camping and look at different ways to camp when adventuring by bike, from hammocks, bivvi bags, tarpaulins to micro tents. Those that are staying over can get set up for the night and cook a meal around the campfire in this idyllic spot.

Weather - We will have access to the 1085 adventure shop on site if the weather is poor for a social evening of bikepacking films and a few ales. Event may get cancelled if the weather is deemed unsuitable.

Parking, toilets, showers and camping facilities available just 200 metres out of the woods at forest campsite.

*Forest Holidays is an established camp ground with campsite, toilets and showers. We have a designated wild area in the woods but if you'd prefer to camp traditionally on the campground but still be involved that is absolutely fine. 

*Campers - Forest holidays asks for a contribution of £10 for facility use and overnight parking, otherwise the event is free.
